Our story · Early 2025

The meal that changed the plate.

Like many good ideas, ours started at the family dinner table. This one began with a flavour that should never have been there.

A toddler reaches into the beagle plate while a parent sits close by at the table.

Not a campaign set. Just the kind of table we designed it for.

First tastes
Early 2025

We wanted mealtimes to be simple.

When we began weaning our daughter, we bought the products that seemed to be everywhere—silicone plates, bowls, cups and cutlery—assuming they were the best option.

Then something unexpected happened.

The moment we couldn’t unnotice

“Every meal carried a soapy aftertaste.”

After just a couple of trips through the dishwasher, the silicone began holding onto the taste and smell of dishwasher detergent.

Once we noticed it ourselves, we couldn’t unnotice it. We wondered how many little ones were refusing food simply because it didn’t taste the way it should.

The search

One solution kept creating another problem.

Beautiful bamboo dinnerware solved the taste problem, but it wasn’t dishwasher safe.

Anyone who has been through baby-led weaning knows the end of the day is not the moment for another stack of dishes that needs special care.

A close view of the beagle plate’s brushed-steel edge and caramel base on linen.

The answer was not another coating or colour. It was a different material.

The material

Stainless steel solved everything except one thing.

It was durable, free from lingering tastes and odours, and happy in the dishwasher. It felt like the obvious choice.

But every stainless-steel children’s plate we found looked industrial. The material was right. The feeling was wrong.

So we decided to create what we couldn’t find.

The beagle, unicorn and dinosaur plates arranged together in soft window light.

What came next

One material. Three characters. A small family of objects we would be happy to leave on our own table.

Why we keep making

Parents shouldn’t have to choose between beautiful design and practical function.

Every product is inspired by real life with little ones: the messy meals, the busy evenings, the hands still learning, and the parents doing their best every day.
